ICLEF mourns the passing of Jeffrey B. Kolb

Jeffrey B. Kolb was a preeminent Estate Planning attorney and longtime friend of ICLEF. Jeff was born in 1951 in Ft Geo. Meade, Maryland. He graduated from Indiana University – Bloomington in 1973 and from its school of law in 1976 which is the year he joined the fourth oldest law firm in the United States, Emison, Emison & Doolittle (Currently Emison Law Group) in Vincennes, Indiana.

Jeff served on the boards of numerous Vincennes, Knox County, and statewide organizations.  He was a member of the Indiana State Bar Association, the National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys, Probate Code and Study Commission for the State of Indiana, American College of Trust & Estate Counsel (ACTEC) and was a Board-Certified Indiana Trust and Estate Lawyer. Jeff also served on ICLEF Board of Directors from 1997 to 2004 and was co-chair of ICLEFs Annual Midwest Estate, Tax & Business Planning Institute from June 2013 to June 2025.Â

In 2024 Jeff received ICLEF’s Excellence in Continuing Legal Education Award for his dedication and commitment to educating the Indiana Bar. He was a prolific writer, publishing over 56 articles and papers for ICLEF from 1981 to present. Jeff was undaunted in his willingness to give of his time and experience to the betterment of Indiana lawyers.

Through his 44+ years of involvement with ICLEF we considered Jeff a mentor and friend. He will be greatly missed and deeply remembered. We are privileged, honored, and grateful to have known Jeff Kolb.
